Weekly Review #19

After 4.5 months of playing poker, I can definitely report that I've reached a new level in my poker play. Since winning my first freeroll MTT with over 1000 entrants on Monday, I'm expecting to always reach the final 20% of a tourny.

The bad thing is I'm finding I'm also bubbling out of tournys more since I'm giving myself the chance of cashing! And when I get ITM, I'm also just missing the final table more.

Saturday was my first day I did not cash in a tourny all week. The interesting fact was I went out in all 4 freerolls with the same hand. In all four tournys all at different sites, I had TT that came up against a bigger stack's AA. What are the chances of that? Actually more importantly, I think I've found a leak!

I still increased my bankroll. All of 45 cents when I played 9 hands of 5/10cent limit while waiting for a tourny to start.

Sunday, I played in 8 tourny, cashed three, 13/94, 12/147, 17/256 and bubbled 26/155.
The four I did not do as well in were all mega freerolls. In one, I was well ITM in 30th place or so and I tilted against a big stack bully and my AK was stopped by his AA. I gotta learn NOT to go allin with AK.

Time to move my game up another level so I'll be going back to the books this week.

Thanks for the pimpage!

Congrats on continuing to build the bankroll.

It can be a real grind at times, especially when playing a lot of freeroll tournaments or grinding it out at the micro-limits.

It took me about 6 months before my bankroll took it's first big leap, although you're already well ahead of where I was when I was 4.5 months in.

Hey WY - Thanks for think to my blog. And thanks for leaving comments (you and klopzi are pretty much the only ones).

One thing I did to change my tourney view is to stop thinking about making it ITM and focusing on winning the whole thing. Since the first spots ITM are rarely more than a few pennies, you need to think about the top spots that really pay.

Some of things you might want to try is to steal as many pots as you can when close to the money bubble. Since so many players want to get ITM and will play super tight you can easily accumulate more chips.

I read a very good series written by Joanne over at http://www.cardsquad.com/2005/10/17/online-poker-tournament-series-part-1/

I don't know if you've joined the PokerLoons (http://www.pokerloons.com) but they have a game almost every day of the week and some very good players.
